Will we reach escape velocity?

I didn't find anything on interest to post today so I thought I'd just ask you guys your opinion on escape velocity. Let me give you a definition first. Escape velocity is when humans live long enough to escape death because the technological advancement is faster than our body degeneration. Basically, living until 60, getting cancer, curing it, living to 80, getting another disease, curing that and perhaps living until 200 because of some freaking amazing achievement. I've read a book "Long for this World" and it got me very interested in biology but I won't lean towards that career anytime soon. It mentions Aubrey de Grey, a gerontologist who believes he can help us reach it. He is currently part of the Methuselah foundation and is conducting experiments on rats to prolong their lives. In the book it mentions his success. Here's a video of him on TED.

On another note, here's a kid owning a bully.

  3. We might be able to avoid aging, but we will never be able to avoid douche bag bullies who think they are top shit and try to start fights for no reason. Good to see one get what he deserves though.

  4. TED always has great videos. I could see it happening though, escaping velocity and everything. We've slowly been increasing our lifespans so after some time more...yeah, It's possible.
